"Jason helped frame my abilities as both a musician and leader and has since continued to be a positive, encouraging influence in my life. Jason has mastered the ability to elevate confidence in students within large ensembles, while also fostering their individual creativity; he's a major force as an educator. I'm incredibly humbled to continue to work with him well after my years as his student."
"Mr. Kneebone is our favorite teacher because he always helps us by telling us what we need to fix through a mixture of lectures and funny analogies. Because of him, Band is the best elective ever! Play less to play more!"
"I had been playing drums for around 3 months when I auditioned and was accepted into the Jazz ensemble under Jason. It was a band reserved for more experienced players, and everyone around me was flexing their years of chops on their various instruments. For one reason or another, Jason believed in me. I was nervous and timid, but Jason pushed me to give it my all, to recognize myself as a musician who deserved to be there. I work as a film director and have learned a host of different skills for this job, but to date, I have never progressed faster in a skill than I did as a drummer in his jazz band nearly a decade ago. I truly think that Jason helped me become not just a better musician, but a better, more ambitious, and less fearful person overall. I would recommend him highly."
This video was produced by Logan Kneebone, our 7-Year-Old, for a Virtual Ensemble project during Distance Learning back in May, 2020. This captures the essence of being a musician - having fun.
